On Tuesday, February 23 rd , 2016 the office of Youth and Community Programs and Women In Touch collaborated to celebrate Black History Month at the Red Hook Justice Center. Community leaders, organizations, Red Hook residents, and Justice Center staff were all in attendance and participated. There were a few Red Hook residents who donated food to the event. The food included; chicken, rice, collard greens, cabbage, mac and cheese, macaroni salad, etc. The turnout was great, and the event was an overall success. We also had live music from a local drummer! There was a silent auction fundraiser, in which we sold photos, paintings, artifacts, and other items. Some of the paintings were sketched by Alice Tapia and painted by Justice Center staff.
